NumisLens Pricing
Free for the first 50 coins, indefinitely. $7 per month or $59 per year for Pro — and every Pro plan starts with a 14-day free trial. The free tier is the complete cataloguing tool — attribution, photographs, condition, valuation, insurance export. Pro removes the 50-item cap and adds curator features for the serious cabinet: the Curator (ask your cabinet in plain language), Imperial Lineages, accession numbers with QR labels, rotation videos, and purchase invoices. Try all of it free for 14 days; a card is required and the first charge lands at trial end unless you cancel.
The Two Plans
Free
$0
Up to 50 coins. Indefinite.
- Catalog search across 81,000+ types
- Full attribution against RIC, RRC, RPC, BMC, Sear
- Photograph storage with provenance tracking
- Condition and grade tracking

Pro

- Unlimited coins in your cabinet
- The Curator — ask your cabinet in plain language
- Imperial Lineages — dynasty plates with family trees
- Accession numbers & QR labels

The pricing is shaped this way on purpose. A 50-coin free tier covers most collectors who are just getting organised, and gives serious collectors enough room to evaluate the cataloguing workflow against a real subset of their cabinet before deciding. The upgrade question only arrives once the value is already established.

The Cataloguing Core — On Both Tiers
The complete cataloguing workflow is available on the free tier. The list below applies equally to both plans and is the basis for evaluating whether NumisLens is the right tool before any payment.
Attribution against numismatic references. Search 81,000+ coin types from the major catalogues: Roman Imperial Coinage (RIC, all volumes), Roman Republican Coinage (RRC), Roman Provincial Coinage (RPC), the British Museum Catalogue (BMC) for Greek and Hellenistic, and Sear (SEAR) for cross-references. Each cabinet entry records the primary catalog reference, denomination, mint, metal, weight, and obverse/reverse descriptions.
Photograph storage with attribution provenance. Upload obverse and reverse images per coin. Reference images from museum collections are shown alongside for visual comparison, with full provenance and license attribution preserved.
Insurance-ready collection export. Generate a PDF inventory formatted for insurance schedules: each item lists catalog reference, attribution, condition, valuation method, and image. The same export is accepted as a valuation schedule by specialist coin insurers and by general home contents policies that require itemised collections above a threshold.
Condition and grade tracking. Record grade per coin using the standard ancient coin scales (Mint State, AU, EF, VF, F, VG) or the NumisLens Coin Condition Score for finer differentiation. Notes on patina, surface condition, edge, and centring are stored alongside.
Valuation tracking. Set a purchase price, current value, and valuation method (auction comp, dealer quote, spot price, or appraisal) per coin. Spot prices for the underlying metal are refreshed automatically where the coin is intrinsically a bullion grade.
What Pro Adds
Unlimited items. The free tier caps the cabinet at 50 items. Pro removes the cap entirely, for collections of any size.
The Curator. Ask questions about your cabinet in plain language — totals, gaps, and attributions — and get answers grounded in your own coins, reflected back in your grid. A knowledgeable assistant for the collection you have actually catalogued.
Imperial Lineages. Dynasty plates rendered as family trees — trace successions end to end with your own coins highlighted on each ruler. Twelve dynasties from the Julio-Claudians onward.
Accession numbers and QR labels.
Every coin receives a globally unique accession number in the NL-XXXXX-XXXXX format. Print
labels include a QR code that resolves to the coin's permalink at
/c/{accession}.
Four print formats cover storage box labels, holder inserts, archival cards, and registry
sheets. Coins can be marked public (off by default) to share attribution, photographs, and
catalogue-plate images with anyone holding the link.
Rotation videos. Attach an in-hand rotation video to each coin, up to two minutes, streamed on the coin's page. The closest a catalogue entry gets to holding the coin.
Purchase invoices. Attach purchase invoices and receipts directly to each coin, keeping acquisition paperwork with the item it documents — useful for provenance, insurance claims, and estate records.
Two Ways to Evaluate NumisLens
There are two independent ways to try NumisLens before committing, and they answer different questions.
The free tier — for the cataloguing workflow. The first 50 coins are free indefinitely, with the complete workflow: attribution, photographs, condition, valuation, and insurance export. A collector can enter 5 or 10 coins, complete the attribution flow, generate a sample insurance export, and decide on that evidence whether the tool fits how they catalogue — with no card and no countdown timer. Collectors at or below 50 coins can stay on the free tier permanently.
The 14-day Pro trial — for the curator features. When the question is whether the Pro capabilities are worth it — Imperial Lineages, accession numbers and QR labels, rotation videos, purchase invoices, and an uncapped cabinet — the trial opens all of them for 14 days. A card is required so the subscription continues seamlessly if you keep it; cancel any time before the trial ends through the Stripe customer portal and no charge is made.
NumisLens vs. Spreadsheet Cataloguing
A spreadsheet is the most common starting point for cataloguing a coin collection. It works for simple inventories but breaks down at three specific points that NumisLens is built to address.
- Attribution against catalogue references. A spreadsheet stores the value you type; it cannot verify that "RIC VII 432" is the correct reference for the coin in front of you. NumisLens searches the live reference database, returns the matching type, and pre-fills attribution from the canonical entry.
- Insurance export. Producing an insurer-acceptable schedule from a spreadsheet typically means hand-formatting a PDF and re-uploading images per item. NumisLens generates the same schedule from cabinet data with one click.
- Image provenance and license tracking. Spreadsheets do not carry image metadata. NumisLens preserves image attribution, license, and source URL so that reference images from museum collections remain compliant with their CC licenses.
The free tier covers exactly the kind of collection that a spreadsheet would handle without friction. The Pro tier is for the size of collection where the spreadsheet has already become a maintenance burden.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a time limit on the free tier?
No. The free tier is not a trial that expires. The first 50 coins in your cabinet are free with the full cataloguing workflow, indefinitely. Pro removes the cap when your collection grows past 50. The 14-day free trial is a separate, optional way to try the Pro features — it does not affect the free tier.
How does the 14-day Pro trial work?
Starting a trial opens full Pro access for 14 days. A card is collected up front through Stripe so the subscription continues without interruption if you keep it; the first charge is made when the trial ends. Cancel any time before then through the Stripe customer portal and no charge is made. The trial is available once per customer.
What does Pro actually unlock?
Pro removes the 50-item cap and adds the Curator — ask questions about your cabinet in plain language — plus Imperial Lineages (dynasty plates with family trees), accession numbers with QR-coded labels and public coin pages, rotation videos, and purchase invoice storage. The core cataloguing workflow — attribution, photographs, condition, valuation, insurance export — is the same on both tiers.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period and are managed through the Stripe customer portal, accessible from your profile page. After cancellation, you retain access until the period ends; afterwards, the cabinet reverts to the 50-item view but no data is deleted.
What counts as an item?
Each distinct coin or banknote in your cabinet counts as one item. Duplicates and variants each count separately, mirroring how a physical collection is recorded. The 50-item cap is on cabinet items, not on catalog searches or attributions performed against the reference database.
Do you offer refunds?
Refund requests within the first 14 days of a Pro subscription are granted on request, no reason required. After 14 days, refunds are evaluated case by case, typically in response to extended service issues. Email support@numis-lens.com.
Can I import an existing collection?
Yes. CSV import handles spreadsheet exports from common cataloguing tools and from hand-rolled Excel sheets. Imported items count toward the 50-item free tier cap, so collections above that threshold trigger the Pro upgrade prompt at the import step rather than after the fact.
